But I'm curious as to why her request was taken seriously, when - in another thread - the same request was made and the poster was told that (in no uncertain terms) figuring out the punishment is the Dom/me's job?

They didn't misread it... there was a conversation in chat about this post/error (started by the poster and the poster's Dom).... so their posts were follow ups to that conversation as well!
