Yes, because this place would be a disaster if people were allowed to post links that requires signing up. Someone might try to provide spam and we all know that nobody can discern between spam and genuine information. Moreover people are unable to make the choice to sign up or not.

And saying I have information and people having to contact me individually is certainly a lot smoother than just posting a link.
