I heard Your Voice

I heard your voice today singing strong and true
My heart cried out for joy I felt strong and new
The music inspired me I danced I was free
For a moment in time the chains fell away
A light shone in the darkness I wish it would stay

I will use that light not give in to despair
I will hold up my head I will breathe in the air
This feeling is too good to let go, too rare to ignore
Such a simple thing as music has opened the door

My head is in a spin, I move to the music, I rejoin the dance
I move purposefully, I yell for joy, I have broken the trance
All I need now is you, to talk, to share all that is good and true
I need your love, I need your care, but you are never here
and that's just not fair.

I realise it was a mirage, an illusion
And that just adds to my confusion
It all seemed so real as I fade back to the shadow I was
The jailer rechains me the light has faded,
Why? Ohh dont you know - just because.
