How long does the burning last after the ginger is removed?

I remember years ago a paper on chemical punishments. TigerBalm, Icy-Hot, Ben-Gay (hehe) were not recommended for the nether regions because there is no way to control the duration. Slather some menthol and he/she is in pain for 45 minutes.

I think Ginger is a better tool because I believe the pain stops a few minutes once it is removed.

I can tell you from personal experience - if you work with Jalapeņo peppers the oil is nasty stuff. I working with some making poppers, I washed my hands carefully then urinated. After a few minutes I was very uncomfortable for the next few hours.
