There are a lot of relationships forged between people who visit the chat here - I recommend spending a few sessions in "the lobby" if you haven't already done so. I don't think there are many people from Germany though, but there are a lot of knowledgable people who visit and may be able to give you more specific advice on how to find your Dom.

Goodness, you ARE an early riser!!!

I know what you mean. It can appear daunting when there are two or three different conversations at once, and if you aren't naturally "loud" i.e. talkative it could be difficult to find the right time to say something.

Weekends are usually better for crowds (typically as one has just gone!), although even then there can be times when there are only a few people in. I suggest going in every few hours - you'll soon get to recognise the regulars and hopefully they will start remembering you.

It might not be your style, but I find thinking of some comment to make to the lobby like "I enter the lobby shyly, curious to see who is here, wave to the people and sit down in the corner to listen to the chat" - then I copy that and paste it as soon as I can as the chat window opens - that way the people see you "enter" and can read your opening remark at the same time. If you mention you are new, learning, shy, or anything like that I think you'll soon find people bringing you into the conversation.

Then if there is a lull you may try "May I please ask the room a question?" and you'll almost certainly find encouragement - at which point you can explain your situation.

Many on this site is from the USA and they thus live 6-9 hours later then CET. Thats why the chat is not so friendly for us from europe.

The fun thing about time zones is if you live in an earlier time zone your life is lived out later.
Germany is GMT+1 and Californa is GMT-8.

When GMT is 20.00 its (19+1=) 21.00 in the evening in germany and only (20-8=) 12.00 and noon in california.

So while their 01 of february are long from over - your 01 of february is nearing its end.
Calirfornians live out their day of 01 february later then germans.
