    Inactive Members

I'm not sure if this will be a popular statement or not but I was just looking at a profile when I realized the person hadn't logged on since a couple days after registering which was almost a year ago.

To save space and clear the member list of inactives, would it be possible to cancel the membership of those people who don't actively participate? I understand we all have lives but asking for a post every now and again shouldn't hurt. If you haven't logged on in months or years why take up space?

I once asked the same question. From what I remember, even though those people may not be active here, they may still read the boards, the library, or come here with another purpose.. so the only way someone gets deleted is if they do something to violate the rules...

I think thats what I was told...

    Silke? Superbitch?
My hands are searching for you My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips My tongue dances behind my lips for you
I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling
    Savoring this heart that's healing
My hands float up above me And you whisper you love me And I begin to fade Into our secret place

You also need a forum account in order to use the chatroom, which explains quite a few of the "register and not post" crowd I would think.

i know i'm new here and everything so just correct me if i am wrong. i know everyone has to have a forums account to chat...and you can definitely browse the forums without posting...but wouldn't you still have to log in? meaning it would show that you had at least been around since you registered.

i know i've seen several profiles of people that haven't even logged in in over a year. wouldn't that mean they hadn't even been here at all?

    chattel69,

God I better start posting so they don't get rid of me. I like it here but am just sooooo quiet all the time you might never be able to tell. Sorry I'll try to do better.

Seriously I think you have made a good suggestion especially since one pointed out that even to chat you must log in. I'm not at all sure if that is true to just browse.

Well, those people don't take up much space here, so we let them be. Simple as that.

There are people who've been asleep for a loooooong time for whatever reason and have come back to live after that. No reason to scare them away just because they're taking a break, lol.

We don't have a policy that requires you to be active on the boards (like the academy for example). And since Rabbit assured us that they don't do much memory-wise *shrugs* - it's fine by me.

Not to mention, more members makes the site more appealing to advertisers who, I assume, make some contributions toward financing the site.

Essentally you are right Wings....Most come to read the stories at the Library's main page. I remember this questions and I forget how Rabbit worded his response. Essentally, they stay until they break the rules and removed or they request to be removed.

You would be suprised at the number of emails I still get ---asking why they were banned? From the rule change last December about the birthdate in their profile ---That means they have not logged on in that long a period of time--but do come back ---so no unless they break a forum rule I will not remove them ---people who do not activate their membership within 14 days of registering are removed ---

now back to the members who were banned because of no birthdate in their profile ---since we upgrades software ---you can not even register now with out a date of birth --so that is a mute point ---but out of the more than 8,000 members that were banned because of it ----it is down to under 6,000 now --as over 2,000 have come back and complied with the new rule and had their membership restored

This place is for the members ---active --or inactive --and I have worked with many on ID changes ----restoring their membership after being banned --and even personal problems when they asked for my advice ---Most members will tell you I answer emails or PMs within 24 hours ---I do not ban members for just anything ---I even take the time to send out a warning PM if a member steps over the line of a rule ----I hate banning any one ---but will if they step on another member's rights--or trys to disrupt the forum with personal adjendas in mind
