Opinions and Comments are Welcome

I don't think you can generalize this to other things. It is a good idea to ask for input--just in case something you plan to do is going to turn out to be really, really un-popular. In this particular case maybe a lot of people are ambivalent like me. I would guess that if people really wanted it they would jump on the yes vote. I couldn't see any reason for voting 'no'...since others might like this. If you want to see a true measure of people's opinions you could have added a third option to the vote: "Don't care."
