Since you don't seem to be getting much guidance, I'll just put my uneducated two cents in.

It's my belief that as long as he doesn't break the skin, all you have to worry about is the pain, BUT if you get cut, it's likely to be jagged and uneven and more likely to get infected than a more simple cut.

Just a guess, though.
